Yoga for Relaxation
Deep relaxation is very therapeutic and intensely healing for the mind, body and spirit. It’s like pushing a “re-set” button which allows our bodies own natural defenses and healing tools to kick in. Yoga is superb for relaxation and stress management! I really work hard with clients to find the best techniques for the person’s lifestyle, individual preferences and stress levels. I also make sure to teach people the techniques themselves so they can learn to relax in different situations.
Relaxation for Athletes
Restoration and structured relaxation techniques are extremely beneficial – I would say imperative - for athletes. Many athletes in their drive for excellence with really heavy training schedules dismiss the need to learn to restore until it is too late and they find themselves with an injury or performance burn–out. And yet….once experienced they often find this is really the “answer” to performance enhancement they were looking. Teaching breathwork and how to breath either for deep relaxation or athletic performance enhancement is one of my favourite tools as it is SO often overlooked even by serious athletes and the benefits are HUGE. How long can you go without breath?
